In preparation for the 20th anniversary, H. C. Mackey came to town and set up his photography studio out of an old Conestoga wagon. He recruited some of the many men in town in the saloon and had them step into his tent in order to check out the lighting and timing for what he hoped would be a land office business of paying customers. (Notice the fine, Cactus Gulch feed grass under their boots.)

Sadly for Mr. Mackey, the four gents he met that day made up the majority of those men likely to pay him for photographs. From left to right there is Sheriff Able Blaine who could use a photo for his election poster this November.

Behind him is Deputy Dan Fairweather, a young man with his heart set on getting married, but without a local sweetheart. He could mail this photo to St. Valentine's Catalog in Cincinnati and for $2 reach over a thousand single women.

The gent in the starched, white shirt is Zeke Calhoun, the wealthy prospector and landowner who could pay for photos with just pocket money, and rumor has it is about to propose marriage to an eligible woman of means, so he could be commemorating his final days as a single man. As he's long past due proposing to his longtime girlfriend, Blaise Sadler, could she have finally convinced him to tie the knot thanks to the gentleman on whom he rests his hand?

That would be Pastor Elijah Entwhistle, the travelling preacher. Entwhistle has been seen quite a lot at the Silver Dollar Saloon. A strange place for a preacher on the face of it.
